It’s already been heard by many of you that R&B Legend, Teena Marie, known for her hits “Lovergirl” and “Square Biz” has passed away.
She died in her home in California over Christmas weekend. She was only 54-years-old.
Says she had a seizure last month but was reportedly doing much better but found sunday morning by her daughter Alia Rose.
It’s so sad… she was just preparing for her show in ATL.

Well I have to let you all know that Halloween weekend was a blast. My boyfriend Sam and I drove from Missouri to Houston, Texas so that he could DJ at an anime convention which is held there every fall. That convention was called Oni-con, in case you haven’t figured that out yet… Here are some pictures of Samuel Benjamin cuttin it up for the anime raver kids:
We were fortunate to have 2 wonderful hosts who took us to an awesome Mexican restaurant called Cha-cho’s (I think I’m spelling it right..) which was heavenly. The portions were generous, the flavors were perfect, and it was super cheap (except for the drinks, which were normal priced). I have never had a more delicious cheese quesadilla with avocado in my entire life. And just so you know, I had eaten 3 (count em, 3!) of those avocado quesadillas before we left, and we were only there for 4 days… Oh and we also got fish tacos which were super tasty as well. Just try not to drool on your keyboard too much when you look at these pictures 😉
Oh yeah, and I dressed up as Daria for Halloween. Well, for part of the weekend I was Daria. Most of the time I was a fox, rockin the Spirit Hood. You’ll notice that Sam was wearing his bear hood as well. Grrrrrrr
I wish that at 25, I was half as cool as the 9-year-old Willow Smith.
If you aren’t familiar with this little trendsetter, she is the offspring of power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
I guess it’s fair that with parents like those, you’ll be a gifted, but I would totally shop in this little girls closet. LOL. If I had been bolder during my transition to natural hair, I may have even tried some bold and brave hair cuts.
She has a new song coming out called “Whip My Hair” It’s hella catchy! I have been waiting on the music video and It finally premiered! For some reason I can’t get it to post on the blog so, click the link to WATCH THE VIDEO here!

Glee’s fall premiere left me with constant goosebumps and chills.
I will admit, I was a show choir kid through and through and every time I get to see a new episode of Glee, I just want to sing until my little hearts content. The premiere did not fall short. It built up your high hopes for the little underdogs! There were parts that made me laugh out loud. I definitely sang along.
I should have auditioned for that show when the chance was there! Maybe next time.

If you’ve been here before, you know I’m always quick to “rave” about upcoming movies I’m excited about.
Movies this summer seemed a little lagging to me. There were movies that I was super stoked to see such as Inception (which rocked my face off), and Despicable Me which was absolutely adorable. But, there were also movies that I had higher hopes for such as The Expendables (which was good for what it was), and The Other Guys, which, was terrible. LOL.
BUT things are looking brighter for the fall! Not only will there be great series starting up such as Dexter and Glee, but the movies bring me much excitement!
Lets get it crackin’ shall we?
Up first, a movie I am itching to see! I think Rachel and I will have to go see this one together because I don’t know anyone else who will appreciate this one nearly as much as I do.
Burlesque – November 24th, 2010
It’s called Burlesque and it’s starring Christina Aguilara and Cher! If you know Rachel and I, you’d know that we are big fans of all things Burlesque and have taken trips to see the Suicide Girls Burlesque whenever they visit Missouri, so this is right up our alley!
From watching the trailer, it would seem this is a cookie cut plot… Small town girl, visits the bustling city and see’s a big new world. What better name to give this small town girl then Ali, short for Alice. That is Aguilara’s character. Take a look at the trailer.
Black Swan (2010)
Black Swan starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis looks crazy. Not crazy bad… but crazy like a drug trip, at least that is what I felt from the trailer. It still looks good, like an evil mix between Center Stage and Swim Fan. LOL. What do you think?
The Fighter – December
And because I am a Cage Fight girl (Go Team Ambition!), I am biting my nails to see The Fighter, starring Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and Amy Adams. Now, this is a strictly boxing movie, no MMA, but the love of boxing brought me my love of MMA. Total connection. LOL.
Anyway, I love Mark Wahlberg with the exception of his role in The Happening, that poor movie was the pits. When I saw the trailer for The Fighter, It took me a minute to realize that was Christian Bale, he’s such a method actor. Anyway, I think it will be a good movie. I’ll probably pack up the fight team to go with me. They’ve all got what we call “A bad case of the punchies” lol. Here’s the trailer.
For Colored Girls.
I think it’s kinda strange the movies Tyler Perry keeps putting out. I think it’s strange that all of them start out with black women being mistreated but they group together and overcome the stereotypical bad black man that is killing their self-esteem. Whats even stranger is the fact that I know this about his films and yet I continue to watch them. LOL. Maybe because his movies seem to be the only ones that showcase black actresses and even though these women start out weak, they end strong! Even though I watch these and yell at the screen I’m always grateful, because these movies could never be my life.
I apologize for the rant, let me get back to the rave.
This movie is a star-studded cast, much like every other Tyler Perry movie. If you like to yell at the screen like I obviously do…. Take a look, but don’t blame me if you don’t like it. With this cast… There isn’t a doubt in my mind that the soundtrack will make you cry, empower you, and move you! I got goosebumps just listening to the trailer.
Alrighty… This concludes my fall movie list. These are just today’s. Maybe as I hear of new ones, I’ll post again. LOL.

Season 5 Poster
The season premier of Dexter is just around the corner! On Sunday, September 26th, 2010 viewers everywhere will be glued to their screens, whether it be TV screen or computer screen (much like myself) to see what shenanigans our favorite serial killer dad gets into.
I finally got a chance to see the season 5 trailer. Pretty late I know, but better late then never right? The season’s trailer was first shown at ComiCon but it’s now up on showtime’s website.
If you’ve never watched the show or didn’t see any of season 4, there are MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!!

19-Year Old Montana Fishburne stars in new Vivid Entertainment Pornography.
She was on CNN of all networks being interviewed by about doing porn and the strain it’s putting on her family.
This girl’s idol is Kim Kardashian, and she figured that since Kim got famous because of her leaked sex tape, then she should just do a porn. She was even allegedly arrested for prostitution.
Now… After hearing about this, I thought maybe she and her father had a strained relationship. Like maybe she wasn’t, well, lack of better words, rich. No, Her father has never mistreated her. She wants everyone to know she is his daughter and she is doing porn.
She has no respect for the man. If she had, she would have at least tried an alias or something. The cover of her sex tape says “An A-List Daughter XXX Debut. Montana Fisburne” If i were her father, I’d dismiss her since she is just so certain that her porn will make her just like Kim Kardashian. What an idol to have.
Gina Torres
I can’t imagine her mother’s thoughts on it. If you don’t know who she is, she is Gina Torres. Most famous for playing the tough and hot Zoe from Serenity.
I don’t think anyone should idolize someone who is famous for nothing.
Now.. I’m not against porn. BUT, I have a problem with the negative impact this may cause her well known family. After watching the interview it’s obvious that she’s a dumb girl and is only doing porn to gain recognition. Publicity stunt, but it’s too much. She’s trying to hard. She may love sex. Most people do, but I don’t think she wants to do porn. I think she just wants some quick publicity and a reality show. lol.
What’s the world coming to?
I don’t know that I ever talked about the movies I’d seen recently, with the exception of Inception, WHICH WAS AWESOME! 😛
I saw both Despicable Me and The Last Airbender.
Despicable Me was very predictable but I’m not upset about it. It was still worth my time and money because it was so cute and made me laugh.
The Last Airbender on the other hand had me at a fork in the road. Good or bad?
I loved the plot… the fight scenes… the imagery, but the acting was not very good at all. These kids were no Jayden Smith’s. LOL.
Not that I want to spoil it for you, but they ended it with the intentions of a sequeal. Which I would still go and see, but I’m not sure ratings where where they needed to be to make it happen. It may end up traveling the same path as The Golden Compass.
I hope that isn’t the case though. I think the second has potential. Maybe they should just do some better promoting as well as get the cast some acting lessons.
I’ll cross my fingers.
Have you seen it? If you haven’t, I won’t ruin it for you, BUT I will post a trailer and leave my opinion of the movie.
I just want to say this movie got me. LOL. I was on the edge of my seat for the duration. I didn’t even want to go to the restroom in fear that I would miss something crucial. Which by the way was impossible for me because I had a Large root beer and the movie is 2 hours (and some change) long.
I must also mention that I LOVE any movie that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in. I’d totally make cute babies with him. LOL. But on a serious note, he’s a great actor.
So take a look, and I suggest you go see it.
The trailer doesn’t tell you much but I think that’s a good thing. I like not going into a movie with a preconceived notion of what it should be. That’s why I don’t want to tell you about it. All I can say is it’s worth seeing.
